Natural copper garden lights which have not been lacquered will weather over time to create a natural effect that blends in with outdoor surroundings such as bricks, plants and tree bark. This is because copper reacts with atmospheric oxygen, therefore after longer periods of time, a 'Verdigris' effect may be present. Although some people may prefer a pristine, shiny copper finish, the oxide layer in fact prevents corrosion and simply adds to the character of natural copper creating a traditional, 'olde worlde' appearance.
