Il Fanale is renowned for the production of hand made, traditional quality light fixtures using only finest traditional materials available including brass, copper and iron. Their products represent all the charm and aesthetic characteristics of the lights of yesteryear with a modernistic twist to meet current exacting standards that are now required.
The lighting products now manufactured by Il Fanale are all inspired from original designs still made today using traditional techniques. Each piece of metal, ceramic and glass is still made using the very finest hand made skills and craftsmanship. This has brought its own rewards to the factory who has supplied quality traditional lighting all over the world.
The glass and ceramic components are all produced using typical handmade skills of Italy. The quality metals are all treated with a quick oxidation treatment giving the products an instant appearance of characteristic ageing patina that we define as antiqued. The method of treatment enables the various metals to adopt its own natural colour feature; brass holds a colour verging on wood green, copper acquires tones which are referred as red-brick whereas iron develops a characteristic of greyish rust.
The quick oxidation is stopped at a very high temperature preceding the components being cleaned by hand to produce bright or opaque finishes with the application of suitable patinas and waxes. Iron is treated with a special clear lacquer.
